Barry has known that the Hospitality Industry was where he should be since attending career guidance event given by an “Old Boy” of the school he attended in King Williams Town, in the Eastern Cape. After completing a National Diploma in Hotel Management at Wits Technikon Hotel School, he took a first management job with Protea Hotels in Knysna. It was during this time that he discovered his knack for the training and development of people, and took a departure from operations in to this field.Since then, his career has, with the exception of a three year stint in Namibia as General Manager of Sodexo for the country, been in senior Training and Human Resources roles in both private and corporate businesses. He has worked in Human Resources at both Group (Sodexo Southern Africa and Legacy Hotels & Resorts) and at Unit level, as Human Resource Manager at the prestigious Cape Grace Hotel. It was at Cape Grace that he rediscovered the "old-school" hospitality that he had dreamed of as a hotel school student. He still loves rolling up his sleeves and becoming “operational”.
"My purpose, passion and forte is in Organisational Design, Culture Change and Leadership Development. I have always worked to align culture with vision, and to create opportunities for talented people to learn and grow as individuals and as team members."
