Tony Romer-Lee and Euan McGlashan’s unique full service hospitality business is growing with two exciting new clients on board.
With an estimated twelve months to go until the opening of The Silo on the V&A Waterfront in early 2017, PMR is excited to announce a collaboration with The Royal Portfolio.
The roots of the family-owned and managed Royal Portfolio began with the acclaimed Royal Malewane in the bush, Birkenhead House in Hermanus and La Residence in Franschhoek. The Silo, with its city centre location, complements the portfolio and is the realization of a longstanding dream to add an urban experience to the collection. The Silo is the latest addition to the portfolio’s existing handful of respected hotels, lodges and villas located in iconic destinations across South Africa. Built in the grain elevator section of the historic Grain Silo district, the 28-roomed Silo spread over six floors is sure to set a new benchmark amid Cape Town hotels.
The PMR team is assisting The Royal Portfolio in a short term consulting role specifically for the critical pre-opening phase. PMR is also helping to set-up various strategic and operational areas to ensure a smooth and seamless launch.

Moving on to PMR’s second new partnership and the location transfers250km from Cape Town’s Waterfront inland to the fringe of the Great Karoo… this time to a hotel located in thehistoric village of Matjiesfontein. Visiting The Lord Milner Hotel is a step back in time where old-world charm, gracious servers, and elegant décor abounds.
Taking over from The Collection by Liz McGrath, PMR has taken on a 5-year management contract for the hotel and attractions in the village, effective from 1st March.
“Although sad to leave a successful relationship with The Collection by Liz McGrath, the exciting news is that we will be teaming up with PMR Hospitality to undertake overall management of the running of the hotel. Co-owner of PMR, Tony Romer-Lee is no stranger to Matjiesfontein having worked with The Collection when they became involved in 2013. Tony and his partnersare passionate about The Lord Milner and we are very excited to welcome them to the Matjiesfontein team!” comments Tom Rawdon on behalf of The Rawdon Family, the trustees of the Village.
“We are pleased to be working with the Rawdons in preserving and enhancing this very special piece of South African history, which has become a destination in its own right,” says Tony Romer-Lee.
PMR’s first priority is that of securing a highly skilled and motivated General Manager and Head Chef to replace the current couple who are leaving the town to pursue other interests.
