Michela grew up in South Africa’s diamond capital, Kimberley. She pursued her tertiary studies at Technikon Free State where she showed her aptitude for the hospitality services industry, obtaining various awards during her training.
Her career began at Sun International’s legendary Sun City Resort in South Africa’s North West Province where her passion for hospitality was truly ignited. Her experience led her to being selected as part of the opening team for Sun International’s Zambian properties; the five star deluxe Royal Livingstone, and the three-star, Zambezi Sun in 2001.
She has immeasurable experience in revenue management having worked as the Revenue Manager at two of Cape Town’s most prestigious hotels, Sun International’s The Table Bay and African Pride’s 15 on Orange Hotel. Between 2011 and 2014, she held the position of Revenue Manager at One & Only Cape Town where she was responsible for maximizing revenues through analytical evaluation of market conditions, driving revenue generating projects, and preparing the annual budget. She also worked closely with the Sales and Marketing team on targeted campaigns.
These experiences have honed an in depth understanding of the dynamics of the global, national, regional and local political and economic markets; demand generators, and opportunities for optimizing revenue growth in the hospitality sector.
