Having started his career as a page boy at the tender age of 18, hospitality is in Nils' DNA. Following his training as a chef, followed stations in Paris, London, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Nils worked in every conceivable department to ensure an all round background to the industry. In Paris, Le Warwick and the ultra luxurious Le Bristol were his places of work. During his three years in London, he worked at the chic Four Seasons - Inn on the Park, The Sheraton Belgravia and The Mayfair Intercontinental, the favoured Hotel of the Stars in the Eighties.
Once on African Soil Nils extended the initial 6 months in Johannesburg's Sandton Sun to 3 years before leaving for Berlin. Berlin and Germany were not to be, the lure of Africa was calling and Cape Town was the place to be for Nils. Here he worked at the then brand new Peninsula All Suite Hotel as Food & Beverage Manager and then as Deputy GM in charge of Rooms Division. In 1995 Nils took over the running of Winchester Mansions Hotel. During his 18 year tenure, Nils is proud to have achieved much acclaim for the now well known 4-star hotel as well as the other assets of the owners who gave their MD virtually carte blanche to turn their buildings into true assets.
Nils has been involved with many industry bodies and chaired a variety of them over the years. He believes that only those getting involved earn the right to complain occasionally.
Nils' love for Cape Town in particular and Africa as a whole were the deciding factors to remain at the tip of this exciting continent with a view to adding value in other African countries and their respective hospitality industries. Nils is proud and excited to be part of the PMR team of associates.
Nils lives on the slopes of Lions head with his wife Sabine and their two teenage daughters.
