For Ruan, the hospitality industry has always been second nature to him, from a young age he would find great inspiration in creating memorable experiences amongst his friends and family. What better place to do this professionally than in the Cape Town area, with its sprawling wine farms, creative eateries and myriad of hotels.
He started his career in the Hospitality industry after working for two years for a chartered accounting company, then moving from Pretoria to study Hospitality Management at the International Hotels School, Cape Town. After studies he was recruited to the opening team of the Luxury Taj Cape Town Hotel in 2010, and for two years played an integral part implementing a huge variety of controls and processes.
Combining his financial know-how and operational experience, he consolidated both skills and became an invaluable all-rounder, specializing in improving the processes that hamper productivity in the industry. Ruan has continued to assist the Taj in all matters of finance, overseeing of audits, training, consolidating of financials and Corporate reporting, whilst starting his own financial consulting business, working in various boutique properties and adding great value to all his clients.
